Mikah Sargent [00:00:00]:
This is TWiT. Kraftonians and Kraftonites, can you hear me? We— oh, good. Hello, Timothy. Hello, Paul. Uh-oh, Joe. Let's see what color. Green. Yeah, pastel.
Mikah Sargent [00:00:35]:
Hi, Blizzview on Twitch. Good evening to you. I'm going to quickly open this beverage, so I'll mute myself. Paul asked what was on my bandana. It's just a standard paisley bandana, nothing special. I wish it was lemons. That'd be a good idea. If you've ever seen these at the store, They are quite good.
Mikah Sargent [00:01:23]:
They basically, they are basically remakes of your classic sodas with far, far, far less sugar, but still quite a bit of flavor. And yeah, they're really good. Um, so. We're back. And nice, A&W zero sugar. Now, when you say A&W, do you mean A&W root beer or A&W cream soda? Oh, beautiful baby. Oh my goodness. Is that from Beetlejuice, that toy? What a cutie pie.
Mikah Sargent [00:02:33]:
Uh, Root beer. I find it quite tasty compared to even the sugar stuff that I remember as a kid. Yeah, I think those can sometimes be flavor enhancers, the different methods of sugar that are not standard. Turns 11. Yeah, I would be in denial as well. Uh, 11, 11 years young, right? All right, let's see, what are we working with today? I'm excited to say that tomorrow I should be joining the, um, the, uh, Intelligent Machines duo that is Paris Martineau And Jeff Jarvis for commentary and, uh, coverage of You Can See Everything, and I'm very much looking forward to that. All right, so we've been working on this blaster for a while. And we're nearly finished with it.
Mikah Sargent [00:03:58]:
So we shall continue. Also, I'm going to need to get a new, uh, new desk cover. Look at how I've got paint and glue, all sorts of stuff. What's everybody else working on? Any fun food crafts? Crafty crafts? I'm working on a This year for Halloween, the gang is going as characters from X-Men, and I would like to know if you all can guess who I will be going as. I may have already said it somewhere. If I did, then that's cheating. Burke. Look, everybody's working on wonder— oh my goodness, I'm so proud of all of you.
Mikah Sargent [00:04:54]:
You're all working on wonderful crafts. We've got a gorgeous snowy painting, the trees. Burke's working on a skull that looks outstanding. Timothy's digging a big hole with— what's the goal, Timothy? What are you after down there? Okay, Joe, that's wonderful that you guessed Nightcrawler because Nightcrawler is— would have been my first choice. I love Nightcrawler. Nightcrawler's my fave. I have 2 X-Men that are my faves, Nightcrawler and Rogue. And, um, yeah, I thought about going as Nightcrawler, but I don't want to paint my skin.
Mikah Sargent [00:05:51]:
Uh, it's such a pain. And also, if I'm going to do it, I want to do— like, I want to make it as good as I possibly can. Um, I'll be going as a mixture of Magneto characters because I find the comic book Magneto to be cloying in design. And I don't like most of Sir Ian McKellen's Magneto costumes because it's pretty much just him wearing, like, all black. Mm-hmm. And so I took Sir Ian McKellen's Magneto and— I almost said Walter Isaacson— Michael Fassbender's Magneto costumes and sort of combined them together. And so I've got some sewing to do. Oh yeah, Dazzler was the fireworks one, right? Correct.
Mikah Sargent [00:06:57]:
I did not want to do the big purple M outfit. If Gandalf was an X-Man, I would just be Gandalf. I love Sir Ian McKellen. Also, I was so busy getting everything set up that I forgot to get the glue, but it's right over here. Oh, Jubilee! That's right, Jubilee is fireworks. When I was a kid, I would pretend to be Jubilee with the different fireworks we were allowed to have in Missouri. Here on the coast, you can't have any fireworks legally. Remember, we've got our special glues.
Mikah Sargent [00:08:15]:
Because I have a 3D printer, everyone, all of my friends were like, can you 3D print my, um, X-Men emblem? I said, yes, but I'm printing it in one color, gray, um, light gray, and you'll have to paint it yourself. Not running AMSs, the AMS, like constantly, because I've got, I've got to print a full Magneto helmet, and that's going to take a while. So we just finished with Figure 24. Yes. We will have, um, I know we've got Storm for sure, and I believe Beast. We've got someone going as Beast. We're trying to get one of our friends Who doesn't know much about X-Men to go as Gambit? Wow, that's a cool look. That's Sound? That's Dazzler? Oh, Phoenix.
Mikah Sargent [00:10:04]:
Why Gambit? Because he just has, he has that Gambit sort of, um, uh, suaveness. But it's like a No, they are from the South, but further south than you're probably thinking. We're a multicultural group, so we're not really considering the New Orleans of it all. That was probably one of the worst accent impressions I've ever done. Oh, golly. Which— who was Bishop, Joe? I don't remember Bishop. I had a feeling, Burke, that you were going to say you didn't like Gambit based on you saying, why? What was Bishop's power? Could he play chess really well? Oh, I remember Bishop. Absorbed kinetic energy and could send it back out.
Mikah Sargent [00:12:05]:
A living weapon. Bishop's energy absorption powers will be crucial in fighting the war. Wasn't there some X-Men that they were like, There's no way they should have died. Maybe it was Bishop. I just remember people being really bent out of shape about, uh, one of the X-Men in, in the movies getting killed, and it was like, no. Cut off and be on parts page 5. Fold the 4 outer tabs upward, fold the 2 black panels downward, and then fold downward along the black line. Folks, you think I would remember by now how I like to have Something to fold these against, and then I always forget.
Mikah Sargent [00:13:11]:
But once again, I've got a ruler right over here. Iceman. You know, I always liked Cyclops, and everyone— Cyclops is just sort of there. Not so— I mean, that's, that's not actually an accurate statement that I have said. I guess what I mean is I really appreciated that someone with kind of a boring power that was mostly just a problem for him was so high up in the chain. I— that I always found, um, quite delightful. Whoa, Joe, that's awesome! The hair looks fantastic. His real superpower was middle management.
Mikah Sargent [00:14:42]:
That's hilarious. Oh my God, Timothy, you ruined it for me. I just liked a middle manager. Oh, who's your favorite X-Men? I don't know, the guy that's really good at managing. When Jean Grey became the Dark Phoenix in the movies, I don't think I've ever been more— I, I— there was Something about that just happened to line up with, when I was younger, like a peak in my anxiety levels, like as a human. And it got tied to that transition. And so to this day, that actress, Whose name is very complicated to pronounce, or at least read. Once you know it, then you can pronounce it.
Mikah Sargent [00:15:55]:
Um, I still can't— like, she gives me the heebie-jeebies, and I feel bad because she's played lots of different roles. But when she's in stuff, like, I don't— I don't even like looking too long at her because she freaks me out after, after that. So just like the— it's, it's almost like whenever you— this is a not terrible, but Sort of the comparison I can make is when you, um, find yourself with some sort of stomach bug and you eat something and then you can't eat that thing for a very long time because it's— the two are just so associated. That was that for me. I was hoping someone would tell me what the gal's name is. Yes, Famke. I mean, I'm probably still saying it wrong. You're saying no, it's not Famke? I think Famke is who we're talking about.
Mikah Sargent [00:17:12]:
I'm specifically talking about the gal with the— yeah, the long red hair, and she has the scary irises, and I'm pretty sure that's Famke. Um, she was also in like some other thing where she played some like a Can you read some of the other things or write out for me, Joe, a couple of the other things that Famke is in? If you don't have the bandwidth to do that, totally fine. But I'm trying to remember, there was some other sort of dark show that she was in, and I had to stop watching it. She was like a vampire-ish creature, if I remember correctly, or some sort of ghoul. And, uh, she was really mean in it too. I feel bad that I don't— Does— do any of you have any actors or actors? I can't remember. I think we call them all actors these days. Any performers who you, when you see them, you go, oh boy, I'm not going to like this character.
Mikah Sargent [00:18:36]:
Or if not that, then you're sort of prepared for something to go wrong. Because that just happened to me. I won't say what the film was because I don't want to do spoilers, but, um, there was something we were watching last night that just hit streaming, and it's sort of a— it's, it's a sort of horror, but it's really just like a thriller, meta thriller, and Because of the actor who was playing a character you weren't supposed to suspect. Oh, her. Yeah, I wasn't talking about her. That's the gal from— that's the gal from I Don't Do Cocaine. What is she from? She's from Game of Thrones. But no, she's fine.
Mikah Sargent [00:19:49]:
I like her. I'm sorry that you don't, Burke, but I, I like her. She's actually a really good actress. Uh, but Famke cannot stand, and it's not her fault. But anyway, uh, Jason Isaacs is the one for you. Um, yeah, yeah, that's a good one. Um, anywho, I knew that everything that he was telling the main characters was a lie because that actor always plays non-suspecting liars. And so it was kind of ruined for me before it even got there.
Mikah Sargent [00:20:26]:
And yeah, I thought, well, maybe they won't do it this time, but no. They did it that time. Oh, Joe, I thought when you said, I didn't even bother with that movie, you were already pretty sure the one that I was talking about, and you were saying, I didn't bother with that movie. I was like, oh wow, good for you that you guessed what I was, what I was talking about. Yeah, I don't think I've ever seen that one. I don't think I've seen Dark Phoenix. What was the one where Wolverine has to hook into Jean? Yeah, she's fantastic in Game of Thrones. She's fantastic And hilarious, just like as a human being who says funny things and does funny things.
Mikah Sargent [00:21:35]:
Um, but yeah, what am I doing here? Fold the 2 black panels downward. Oh yeah, I meant to follow up with you. Camp Miasma, Miasma, however you say it. Um, I, I will eat up a metaphor on a metaphor on a metaphor, and God, I loved it. I loved it. Joe, have you seen that one with, um, with— I'm so bad at names, but I should know her name because I love her with my whole heart. Uh, Princess Diaries. That's not what I'm asking you, but that's how I'm trying to have you all remember who I'm talking about.
Mikah Sargent [00:22:42]:
Um, Princess Diaries and And Les Mis. And yes, and the Anne Hathaway. Have you seen Mother Mary? We don't talk about Catwoman. It wasn't my favorite, Joe. But a dear friend of mine convinced us to go see it. And afterward, she shared her thoughts on it, and her impressions, and her understanding of it. And it completely reshaped my experience of it in a very positive way. And it makes— I would be curious to see how you— because I think that you are able to appreciate more cinema than I am.
Mikah Sargent [00:23:55]:
And so I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on that. It was beautiful, and I would watch Anne Hathaway like sit in front of a fireplace for an hour if that was a film. So like, I— that part of it, you know, I was gonna see. But— Tell us about 1987's Street Trash. And then fold downward along the black line. Yeah, I guess so. What is slok? Uh, what is schlock? Very hard to describe. It's a movie about cheap liquor that melts people and also somehow about Vietnam PTSD while also being a highly offensive film in many ways.
Mikah Sargent [00:25:33]:
Anne Bancroft? Do you mean— why can't I remember any names tonight? I was trying to make a Tomb Raider joke and I couldn't remember her name. Ugh. My brain is upsetting me this evening. Cheap liquor that melts your brain. No, melts people. Glue the black panels to the unprinted side of the center panels. Glue the black panels to the unprinted side of the center panels, but do not glue the tabs together. Whoa, that's a cool poster! Er— oh, Eraserhead! Eraserhead meets Night of the Living Dead on the set of Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Mikah Sargent [00:26:34]:
Street Trash. Lightning Pictures presents Street Trash, starring Bill Chepel, Vic Noto, Jane Arakawa, Mike Lackey. None of these names I recognize. No one under 17 admitted. Special makeup effects by Jennifer Aspinall. It's a, it's a very wet movie. Oh golly. Okay, yeah, that's, uh, that'll, that'll be a no for me if they're like forcing people to drink that or something.
Mikah Sargent [00:27:34]:
That's not great. My glue brush work. When it said Eraserhead, I thought, well, maybe, because I do like a David Lynch moment. Just watched, uh, That first The Tex— I think that's the one— The Texas Chainsaw Massacre film. And it's so weird to have— for me, it was such a unique experience in the sense that you had very good cinematography, very Good performances and a terrible, terrible, terrible story. Like, like the plot was awful. The script was awful for me. The performances were fantastic and the cinematography was gorgeous.
Mikah Sargent [00:29:19]:
And I don't think you get that, or at least for me, I've not seen a lot that falls into that bucket for me. Usually it's like you get 2 and don't get 1. And so yeah, I was really, um, surprised. Okay, now this said that it was supposed to go Glue the black panels to the unprinted side of the center panels. There's not room. There's not room. That is bizarre. I actually haven't seen a lot of, uh, TCM films.
Mikah Sargent [00:31:03]:
I've seen In fact, that may be the only one I have seen, and it took a lot of convincing by my significant other for me to finally watch it. And it was basically entrapment by the time we got around to watching it. One of those, fine, I will watch this, but only if you watch this. Ah, fine. I'm getting very upset with this. Comma drama dramedy gay drag story. Say that 5 times fast. Have you seen So— I'm sure you have, surely.
Mikah Sargent [00:32:11]:
So Long and Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar? Yeah, I've only seen it once. It's definitely something I'll have to go back and see. Well, not go back, but like, you know, watch again. All right, this is really— oh yeah, sorry, Tu Wong Fu. What did I say? This is what I'm saying. I don't think I've had enough. I think I've not had enough glucose today because my brain is just not working. And thanks for everything, Julie Newmar.
Mikah Sargent [00:33:05]:
Um. Let's see, how do I fix this? Uh, I guess I can— I need more electrolytes, the Joker on YouTube says. You may be on to something, Joker. Why so dehydrated? You think there are 6 what? Oh. I know what you're saying. 6 Texas Chainsaw Massacres. Do any of you watch, or have you ever watched American Horror Story? It hasn't, for me, been good in many seasons, but Um, he used to really like it. My favorite season is Sarah Paulson's least favorite season.
Mikah Sargent [00:35:13]:
Good night, Joe. Yeah, Coven's a good season, Timothy. I haven't decided yet on the newest season, and I'm already 9 episodes in. So— Are you running on that broadcast delay, Burke? I'm really trying to fix this, and it's really just so silly. I don't understand. Who will be tuning in tomorrow for our You Can See Everything commentary? Oh no, Timothy, no, don't do that. Well, I mean, you do you, but don't. That's fair.
Mikah Sargent [00:37:20]:
Somebody in one of our— I, I, I don't know. I don't know if it's a privacy thing, but maybe it is. It's enough of a privacy thing for me to wonder, so I'm just going to choose privacy. Uh, but one of my— one of our co-workers in, uh, Our staff meeting yesterday said, or asked, is it a movie for date night? And, um, I said, are you com— are you and your, uh, are you and your wife comfortable with full-frontal nudity? Because if you are, then I think it could be a movie for date night. Wow. My craft project was on display. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. You told me that you're— that you were taking it to a local train show.
Mikah Sargent [00:38:31]:
I'm glad that went well. It looks fantastic. Let me show it on the stream. Oh, that's a video. Uh, let me take a screenshot of the video. Unless— are you okay with me playing this video? It doesn't look like there's anybody in it that I, at first I was worried it was going to be showing people. Okay, sweet. I will pull that up because that's pretty doggone cool.
Mikah Sargent [00:39:08]:
Drag that over.
Mikah Sargent [00:39:26]:
I love that the trains all, um, that they all connect. That's so cool. Like, that's part of the experience is that they all, um— Yeah, connect the tracks. I don't have enough calories in my body, I can tell. Uh, anywho, that is really cool. All right, there's 25. Glue the back panels to the— yeah, we did that. Yeah, yeah, and it does.
Mikah Sargent [00:40:31]:
Okay, that's good. Position the fin B tabs directly over the matching areas on fin A. Oh, I see. So this is going to go on here. Well, that's pretty Very nifty. A train prize. Did the train you went on, did it have like a, um, an area with, um, food and drinks? The beverage cart. Oh, Torshbata Museum.
Mikah Sargent [00:42:29]:
Welcome, Jason. We are working on a paper blaster. Actually, it's a ray gun, a papercraft ray gun. Hmm, I don't know that I love that. It looks cool from the side, but the top kind of looks a little goofy. Oh well. It says— this is kind of funny— Congratulations, your electrospheric ray gun is now complete. However, this is far too dangerous a weapon to just leave lying around someplace, so let's make a quick, easy base to display it properly.
Mikah Sargent [00:44:19]:
By the way, there it is in its full glory. Pew pew pew! Or more like pew pew! Cut out Base A. Fold downward between all 5 panels. Glue the blank gray panel to the unprinted side of the opposite panel. I just realized something. Why don't I just score it? Hello. Hmm. I have to show you all something I got recently.
Mikah Sargent [00:46:14]:
It's not quite a craft, but it is interesting. Yeah, why was I not doing these? Why was I not scoring this the whole time? Now we're zooming through. All right. All right. You ready for the power failure? What power failure? Uh. You're doing work work. Cut out Base C on Parts Page 5. Fold the 3 black panels downward.
Mikah Sargent [00:49:11]:
Fold the 2 smaller triangular panels upward, and then fold the 2 larger triangular panels downward. Glue the black panels to the unprinted. We won't get we won't do that yet. Oh, PHP. I thought something— I thought like the world had gone upside down because I got an email from Steve. And I thought, now I did just do— I just, I thought I just recorded Security Now with Steve. Why am I getting show notes again already? And so then when it wasn't show notes— and also, I don't know, maybe y'all don't even know what the heck I'm talking about, but, um, Steve sent out a notification about the PHP stuff. And I thought the sky was falling or I was losing my mind.
Mikah Sargent [00:50:42]:
Golly. That's upsetting. I, I don't know why I'm trying to use that tool for scoring. It's not a very good scorer. I just used Claude to Yeah. So I decided earlier today to take some old, um, Flic devices that were— I wasn't using because they didn't work very well with the hub and all the stuff that Flic had, and just connect them directly to my Home Assistant. So earlier today we were digging through Bluetooth signals to figure out how It sends the signal for the twist part and all of that so that I can repurpose them and use them for whatever I want in my Home Assistant setup. Have you all seen the stuff that's being done on televisions? Lots of people deconstructing their smart TV Firmware, debloatifying it.
Mikah Sargent [00:52:18]:
I, I like that because for the longest time, that's been one of the most common questions that we would get. How do I make my smart TV not smart? And now people are doing it themselves. I used to love power outages as a kid. 'Cause everyone just had to kind of be more cooperative with each other. And then it was just kind of nice to feel safe next to the people that you knew. All right, let's see. Fold the 3 black panels downward. All right.
Mikah Sargent [00:56:00]:
Good night, Paul. Uh, good night. Timothy. Good night, Jason. Good night, Patrick. Good night, Burke. And good night to anyone else tuning in, or good day, good evening. Thank you for being here with me today for this episode of Micah's Crafting Corner.
Mikah Sargent [00:56:25]:
Um, we'll be back tomorrow for some fun, uh, as we talk about Well, first of all, for Tech News Weekly, don't you forget it. And then later that day to talk about You Can See Everything. And is there something else happening this week? God, I hope not. No, I don't believe so. But I will be hosting this Sunday's TWiT. So I I look forward to seeing you all there for that as well. I hope to see you all there for that as well. Wow, that green, that green is really pretty.
Mikah Sargent [00:57:07]:
That's looking nice. All right, I'm gonna say goodbye now. Goodbye now.
